Antique Primitive Eskimo Carved Pine Drift Wood Standing
Polar Bear
This standing Polar Bear (not grizzly, brown bear, nor
European) is carved from stained Pine drift wood in a primitive style, but very
naturalistic in the stance & pose.
His long neck, triangular head & body are slightly cocked to the
right, the belly sags & the hips are slung under…obviously a result of
real-life observation, & not from mere pictures & imagination.
Though minimalistic & under-stated, there is a strong
feeling of the living creature conveyed in this little carving.
Inuit Alaskan before WWII (based on Estate collection it came from).
No chips or cracks or losses.
Smoke free – odor free.
